Fog Software Inc. Releases ByteWedge 2.0

New data acquisition software for laboratory equipment and measuring devices.

ByteWedge is a new advanced software application that collects (acquires) data real-time from a variety of electronic devices, including but not limited to Telephone Systems, Scales and Balances, Gauges, pH/Electrochemistry Meters, Laboratory Instruments, Sensors, Densitometers, GPS Receivers, Barcode Scanners, Magnetic Stripe readers, ID Tag Readers and other RS232-enabled devices.

Currently, most companies, scientists and researchers collect data manually, writing down data measurements in the laboratory logs, and then re-type it into Excel or other data processing software. This requires a lot of time and significantly increases the chances of introducing human errors.

ByteWedge directly acquires data (measurement readings) from electronic devices connected to PC (2-Way I/O is used) and exports it into a database or a third-party application for immediate processing. The process is real-time and the program supports all databases, including MS Excel, MS Access, MySQL and MSSQL. The program uses ODBC, OLE, DDE or Send Strings data sources.

ByteWedge comes in two versions, Standard and Professional, and is not strictly limited to the scientific field. The advantage of the Professional is real-time data transfer over the Internet, using TCP/IP protocol. In addition, ByteWedge Professional features ComPort/IP Server, ComPort/IP Client, TCP-File and Serial-File.

Real-time data transfer options give ByteWedge Pro customers a wide range of possible applications for the software. For instance, a transport company may allow its customers track current delivery truck location using GPS coordinates. Likewise, a laboratory in one location can feed experimental data via Internet to other laboratories around the globe real-time.

ByteWedge is a simple "turn-key" solution. Absolutely no programming or pre-setup is required.
The program is installed and configured automatically, using simple wizard-like interface. Advanced data parsing and filtering options are available.
